Marilyn Ann Spears, age 85 of Dayton, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Hospice of Dayton. She was born April 25, 1932 in Dayton, Ohio daughter of the late John and Viola Norris.
In addition to her parents, Marilyn is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Harry H. Spears in 2014, son, Steven M. Spears; siblings, Evelyn Norris, Eileen Gosney, Jack Norris, William "Bill" Norris and Betty Gallivan.
Marilyn is survived by her son, Tom M. (Susan) Spears; daughters, Cathy M. Moon and Lisa D. (Paul) Raymundo; sister, Carol J. Wildenhaus; sister-In-Law, Irene Norris; grandchildren, Christopher S. (Holly) Moon, Austin T. Spears, Caitlyn E. Spears; great grandchildren, Ella and Lilly and special friend, David Coffey as well as nieces, nephews and many other family members and friends.
Marilyn was a 1950 graduate of Julienne High School, Dayton followed by studies in social work and senior care at Wright State University. She served as senior social services director for the city of Fairborn working at the Senior Center and retiring after 10+ years.
Marilyn was very active with Mary Help of Christians (Daughters of Isabella) and most recently with the St. Francis of Assisi parish (Bereavement Committee). Marilyn loved music, dancing and fishing as well as sporting activities in her youth. Later she spent time playing rummy, Yahtzee and Scrabble. Marilyn enjoyed the water and her trips to the casino. She was also very involved with caring for her yard and the beloved family pets over the years.
Family will receive guest from 10:00-11:00 AM Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Dayton. Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 11:00 am Wednesday, also at the church. Calvary Cemetery, Dayton will serve as Marilyn's final resting place. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton at 234 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420 in memory of Marilyn.
