Marilyn Doris (Mead) Priser, age 83, of Kettering, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at Ohio's Hospice of Dayton. She was born March 15,1941 in Pontiac, Michigan.
Marilyn has been reunited with the love of her life, her loving husband and "DePauw Sweetheart" of 60 years Denny, with whom she met and fell in love while both were students at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, who just passed away in August 2024. She was also preceded in death by her parents The Rev. James C. and Doris (Fetherston) Mead and by her younger sister Judith Ann (Mead) Steele.
Marilyn was a 1959 graduate of Toledo Edward Libbey High School and a 1963 graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree from DePauw University where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. She was a Life Member of the Washington C. DePauw Society and was very active as a member of the DePauw Dayton Alumni Club and loved co-hosting with Denny the annual Monon Bell Football Game Watch Party every November. Marilyn was an active member of Harmony Creek United Church of Christ (formerly Oak Creek UCC) for over 55 years, avidly maintaining the church's Prayer Chain for years and was the Program Facilitator for Oak Creek UCC for 8 years. She was active in the Girl Scouts as a troop leader in the 1970's and 1980's and was a longtime member of the League of Women Voters. Marilyn loved flower gardening, vacationing with her husband and children, traveling to be with her sister Carol whether in the mountains of Colorado or on the beaches of Florida, attending theatric, cinematic, and philharmonic events, spending time with friends and family, and loving various family pets over the years. She enjoyed following sports, especially those played by her children and grandchildren or coached by her husband. She also enjoyed following the Dayton Dragons Minor League Baseball team and the Major League Baseball team the Cincinnati Reds.
Her pride and joy were her family. Her survivors include her daughter, Julianne Priser and grandson, Cody Priser of Kettering, Ohio and her son, Jim Priser and his wife Myra of Naperville, Illinois and grandsons, Justin, Jake, and Cole Priser. She is also survived by her sister Carol (Mead) Todd LaBorde (DePauw '60) of Montrose, Colorado, by her brother-in-law David Steele of Copper Mountain, Colorado, by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jack Priser (DePauw '59) and Suan (Weikert) Priser (DePauw '60) of Lancaster, Ohio, and by many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Marilyn has been cremated. The inurnment of her ashes along with her beloved Denny will be at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, New Carlisle, Ohio at the convenience of the family.
