Marilyn J. Caldwell

Marilyn J. Caldwell, age 77 of Centerville, Ohio, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, April 11, 2025 at Ohio's Hospice of Dayton. She was born February 26, 1948 in Richmond, Indiana, the daughter of the late William H. and Mary E. Balthis.

Marilyn is lovingly referred to as Nana by so many. She was vibrant, compassionate, and artistic. She used her creative talents during 15 years of marketing and advertising for McDonald's Restaurants. Marilyn also spent 12 years as a software systems analyst for Tyler Technologies. She was extremely dedicated to her work and later to her job as "full-time Nana." While a member of Normandy United Methodist Church, Marilyn devoted countless hours to missions and outreach, especially in organizing support for the Walk to End Alzheimer's. Marilyn enjoyed crafting, cooking, gardening, visiting the beach, teaching her grandchildren to bake, and spending quality time with friends and family.

Marilyn is survived by her husband of 58 years Louis Caldwell; daughters, Amy (Tim) Reese and Allison (Brad) Vasseur; grandchildren, Brandon (Laura) Reese, Maggie (Jace) Durham, Jordan Reese, Hannah Reese, Molly (Robby) Outland, and Chloe Vasseur; great grandson, William Walker Durham; siblings, Donna (Don) Church and William Jr. (Jeanie) Balthis; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Mary Jane Schoonover, Johnny Balthis, Bill Balthis, Richard Balthis, and Linda Jo Pate.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 from 10:00 am to 11:30 am at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Centerville (820 Miamisburg-Centerville Rd., Dayton, Ohio 45459). Funeral service will begin at 11:30 am. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 pm at Earlham Cemetery (1101 W. National Rd., Richmond, IN 47374).
