She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clarence Boyd; parents, Robert and Marla Hamilton; in-laws Standford and Alpha Boyd; brothers, Eugene (Margret, dec.) Rhoades and George (Donna) Hamilton; son-in-law, Greg Miller (Anita); sisters-in-law Ruth (Robert) Boyd and Janice Swarts; and nephew, Patrick (Joyce) Swarts.

Marilyn is survived by her children, Anita and John; grandchildren, Matt (Emily), Marah (Casey), and Micah (Jaimee); great-grandchildren, Tori, Brandon and Lorealai; brother, Paul Hamilton; brother-in-law Robert "Honest Bob"; sisters-in-law, Donna and Barbara (Mike); nieces, Linda (Randy), Susan, Jenny, Angel (Phillip) and Stacey (Gary); and nephews, Donald (Joyce), Robert "Bobby" (Teresa), and Michael "Mike" (Erin). Marilyn is also survived by numerous other family and friends.

Marilyn married Clarence Boyd on June 11, 1955 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Miamisburg, Ohio. They both enjoyed traveling and playing pinochle. One of their famous quote to each other was "hearts is trump" and they shared the same birthdate.

She was a devoted member of St. John's. She was baptized on April 21, 1935 and became an affirmed member on June 5, 1949. On October 30, 2011 she was honored as a Heritage Member.

She graduated from Miamisburg High School in 1953, she then attended Banking School with Farmers and Merchants Bank and completed a certification program in accounting with Miami University. Marilyn was employed with Sinclair College, Mound Printing and retired from Armco Steel in 1992. Marilyn volunteered for many organizations throughout her life and was recognized by the Ohio Department of Mental Health, the city of Miamisburg and was Volunteer of the Year for Montgomery County. Also, she was recognized for her volunteerism by the 123rd General Assembly of Ohio as the recipient of the J.C. Penney Golden Rule Award (2000). She was a dedicated advocate for NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) where she served as an advocate and an educator in the "Family to Family" program. Marilyn's major focus was farm preservation and farm stewardship.

Marilyn enjoyed playing basketball in high school, going camping, and sewing. She had a love of traveling, playing euchre and mushroom hunting. Marilyn loved being able to say while playing euchre "I'll call trump and I'm going alone".

The most important thing to Marilyn was her family, friends, neighbors and being on the family farm. She taught us many important life lessons: to help and love one another, to take care of the environment, the importance of a strong work ethic, and to "never show your whole hand". She is loved and will be deeply missed.

If desired, memorial contributions can be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, 470 S. Gebhart Church Road, Miamisburg, Ohio in Marilyn's memory.

In lieu of a public funeral service, Marilyn requested that those who would like to honor her will find a quiet time to remember who she was in their life and be thankful for the time you had together. Marilyn will be laid to rest at Hillgrove Union Cemetery next to Clarence.
