Marianne was born on May 20th, 1930 in Dayton Ohio. She was raised by her parents Floyd and Frieda Stahl. She spent most of her childhood living in Boston, Massachusetts. Her family moved back to Ohio in time to finish high school and college at Ohio State where she earned a degree in education. She married James Phipps in 1952 and taught elementary school for a short time. She was happy to pursue being a homemaker when her oldest son was born. Marianne was a believer and follower of Jesus Christ. She treasured her family, friends, and will be remembered for having a servant's heart, her joyful spirit in all circumstances, her passion for children's ministry, and her devotion to the Ohio State Buckeyes!
In 1988, Marianne began her retirement years with her husband Jim. She could be seen with fishing waders right alongside her husband as they traveled throughout the United States in their Airstream trailer. In 1991, they purchased a mobile home in Avon Park, Florida where the couple spent the winter months for 25 years. While in Florida, Marianne enjoyed volunteering in children's group homes where she would share her faith with young children.
Marianne will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to all who knew her.
