Maria Esmeralda Coffman

Maria Esmeralda (Madrid) Coffman "Lala", age 69 of Beavercreek, passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2013. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was born in Gonzales Ranch, New Mexico on January 26, 1944 and was the third child of six. She was the daughter of the late Fred and Guadalupe (Lopez) Madrid. Later her father moved the family to clovis, NM. Here she married her late husband of 14 years, Jimmy Maestas and together they had two daughters.
She lived in Clovis until she married an Air Force Sergeant, Lawrence Coffman, who answered her dreams of traveling; they moved to Germany and lived there for three "amazing" years. She traveled throughout Germany and Switzerland. After her travels in Europe, the family moved and settled to Beavercreek, Ohio. Her joy in life was taking care of her family and helping others. Her compassion and giving nature has touched many friends and family all over the nation. She valued her faith in the Lord, life and friendships.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her daughter, Jane Maestas.
Maria is survived by her husband of 36 years, Lawrence Coffman; two daughters, Elizabeth and Peter Gessner of San Antonio, TX, Mary Ann Maestas of Beavercreek, OH; grandson Michael Edward James Maestas; three sisters, Lucy Sena, Marcy Sena, and Sadie Baker from Clovis, NM; two brothers, Fred Madrid, and Tony and Debbie Madrid from Albuquerque, NM.
Maria was a devoted wife and homemaker who enjoyed gardening, dancing, reading and traveling. She was able to return to her beloved Europe for a second tour and visited Spain and Italy.
She worked at Wright Patterson AFB for 26 years where she received numerous awards for outstanding performances. She enjoyed being a secretary and executive assistant before she retired in 2010. She will dearly be missed by her family and friends.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke's Church in Beavercreek, OH or the American Heart Association in Maria's memory.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Road, Beavercreek OH 45432.
Friends are also welcome to join us for Mass which will be celebrated at St. Luke Catholic Church, 1440 N. Fairfield Road, Dayton, OH 45431, on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at 10:00 AM.
