Margaret R. Williams

April 24, 1934 — September 28, 2022

Margaret Julia Ray Williams passed peacefully away on Wednesday morning, September 28, 2022, after a long battle against cancer and illness. She was 88 years old.

Margaret was born April 24, 1934, in Springfield, Kentucky but, moved to Dayton, Ohio with her family when she was a young girl. In Dayton, Margaret attended school and married her high school sweetheart, Walter Williams. Years later they parted ways and Margaret was left to raise their seven children alone. As a single young mother, she experienced numerous hardships that were only surmounted by her stubborn disposition and fierce determination. She was resourceful and imaginative when facing difficulty. She grew in wisdom as she grew with her family. She glowed with pride at the thought of her children and their success through the years as a united family.

Margaret loved old Westerns, contemporary Jazz, making jewelry and shopping. Some of her happier moments were spent traveling, shopping with friends, riding in her yellow Camaro and laughing when she bought yet another pair of shoes.

Margaret was a hard worker and retired from General Motors after 23 years of service. She devoted much of her time to her Church and helped decorate for church functions. She used her creativity to make and sell her jewelry creations on behalf of the church.

Margaret is preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Cooper Ray, her father, John Louis Ray, her brother, Clarence Ray and her infant son, Patrick Williams.

Margaret is beloved and leaves her seven children to mourn her passing:
Walter Ray Williams, Jr. "Junnie"
Charlotte A Williams
Ronald Williams
Marian L Williams
Lynett Munson
Teri M Williams
and Dwight J Williams

She also leaves siblings, Sylvester Ray "Syl" and Augustine Ray. Her devoted and close friends include her Sister-in-Law, Gloria Ray and Portia Shern, Vivian McDonald and Dorothy Hamilton.

Margaret's spirit flourishes within her 18 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, and a multitude of nieces, nephews and cousins, aunts, and dear friends that span Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana.

Margaret was somewhat of a loner but was deeply loved by many. Her life's journey dramatically shaped many lives. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, perseverance, and dignity.
