We are sad to announce the passing of Margaret Theresa Schindler (nee Collins) on July 8, 2023, at age 95. She was born on January 21, 1928 on Staten Island, New York. Her husband, Edwin George Schindler, predeceased her in death in 1993. Margaret moved to Beavercreek, OH, in 2016 to be close to family.
Margaret was the 10th and last surviving child of Charles and Margaret Collins. She enjoyed being close to and spending time with her large family. With a love for animals she was a supporter of local shelters as well as the ASPCA. Over the years, she had several of her own pets and would feed and care for any animal or bird that came to her door.
Margaret enjoyed 1940's movies, especially musicals. Although she never realized her dream of learning to play piano, she was able to buy a player piano. She had many rolls of music that she played every day. Her other interest was frequent trips to Atlanta City, NJ. She didn't care if she won or lost, she just had fun being with her friends and making new friends.
Margaret retired as head-cashier from Lerner Shops in the Staten Island Mall. In her retirement years, she did what she loved most, spending time with family and close friends.
Margaret is survived by her daughter, June E. Schindler-Crouch; granddaughter, Stephanie Brown (nee Wineski); Stephanie's husband, Kenneth M. Brown; and great-grandson, Kenneth M. Brown, Jr.
There will be a private funeral service by immediate family. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested donating a tree in Margaret's memory at livingtribute.org or Wright Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, 829 W Yellow Springs-Fairfield Rd, Fairborn, OH 45324.
