Margaret Hanner

Margaret Faye (Skaggs) Hanner age 91, passed away January 30, 2019 in Dayton, Ohio. Born at home May 9, 1927 in Ashland KY to the late Charles and Mallie Skaggs.
She was preceded in death by husband, Jesse Hanner Sr, and brothers, Earl and Carl Gilliam, Jack Skaggs, sisters Doris Ellis and Betty Skaggs.
She is survived by her sons, Carl, John (Debbie), Jesse Jr (Diane), grand children Monica Lee, Kristy, Alicia, Deidra, Nick, John Ryan, David, Jessica, Michael, Caitlin, Becky, Gene, many great and great grandkids, and sister Gloria "Gail" Bush.
While building Liberty ships in Baltimore MD during WWII, mom dated and married dad. As a bus driver, mom was a 2nd mother to many Mad River School kids. Attending Patterson High School at night, she graduated in 1972 with a 4.0 GPA; a huge accomplishment for a working mom and wife. A member of Emmanuel Baptist Church of Dayton, mom enjoyed her books and traveling.
Family will receive friends Sunday, February 3, 2019 from 1-3 pm at Newcomer North Dayton Chapel, 4141 Needmore Road, where a funeral service will follow at 3 pm. Burial Monday, February 4, 2019 at 1 pm at Norris Bush Cemetery in Hopewell KY.
