Marcia Pogue

POGUE, Marcia L.
Sunrise - August 5, 1937, Sunset - September 1, 2009. Marcia was born to the union of David Taylor Sr. and Ruth M. Salter on August 5, 1937 in Cincinnati, OH. As a child they moved to Springfield where Marcia lived until the age of 14 when she moved to Hamilton, OH to be with her mother. There she married Edward Pogue in 1954. He preceded her in death in 2004. She moved to Dayton, OH in the early 1960's where she worked and retired from the VA Medical Center in 1995. In 2003 Marcia moved to Aurora, CO where she would spend her remaining years with her daughter Teresa who lovingly cared for her during her lengthy illness. Marcia departed this earthly life on September 1, 2009 at 9:30 p.m. at her home with Teresa and her husband Kevin Shaw, Sr. at her side. The Denver Hospice Care services were there with her also to ensure her of a peaceful transition. After being baptized and beginning a relationship with God, Marcia developed a passion for the Word of God. She did a Bible study every morning even after she became ill. That passion never left her. Her other passion was her children and family. She was the glue that held it together. Marcia was the second child of five siblings and the mother of seven children. Spencer Pogue preceded her in death, but he was always in her heart and mind. She leaves to mourn her passing three sons and three daughters. Anthony (Tony)Pogue of Louisville, KY, Sylvia R. Pogue of Dayton, OH, Theresa A. Shaw (Kevin Sr.) of Aurora, CO., Richard A. Pogue Sr., of Dayton, OH, Terry W. Pogue of Dayton, OH, & Sharita Pogue of Dayton, OH, one God-Daughter Ms. Yvonne Mack. She leaves 13 grandchildren Spencer Dion Pogue of Washington DC, Tyesha Miles (Roman) Michael Pogue of Dayton, OH, Kevin Shaw II, Aurora CO., Latia Shaw of Tempe AZ, Richard Allen Pogue, Jr., who preceded her in death in June of 2009, Terry (Man) Pogue Jr., Jason Pogue, twins Lameka & Tameka Pogue, Aaron, Erika, & Jami Pogue all of Dayton, OH & eight great-grandchildren. She leaves to mourn the passing of her mother Mrs. Ruth Mae Jackson of Hamilton, OH, & two loving sisters & one brother. Mr. David E. Taylor Jr. (Erika) of Bremerhaven, Germany, Marie Smith, who preceded her in death in June 2009, Donna L, Liggins, of Dayton, OH, Alma (Mickey) Bass (Crawford) of Rockford, IL, & host of nieces & nephews. She leaves many friends and relatives whose lives she touched, including her best friend for life Ms. Catherine Dower & the Rev. Wilson & his family. Marcia will be greatly missed and never forgotten. Services will be held, 10AM, Wed. Sept. 9, 2009 at the Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 4104 Needmore Rd, where a visitation will be held from 5-8pm Tuesday. Burial at Woodland Cemetery.
