Marcia L. Mills, a beloved elementary school teacher and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on March 11, 1934, in Dayton, Ohio, Marcia dedicated her life to nurturing the minds and hearts of young children, serving as an educator at Harry Russell Elementary in West Carrollton for an impressive 44 years. Her unwavering commitment to the field of education was further solidified by her academic achievements, which included a Master’s degree in Education from the University of Kansas, following her graduation from Oakwood High School.
Marcia was renowned for her loving and caring spirit. Colleagues and students alike appreciated her comforting presence, often describing her as easy to talk to, understanding, and compassionate. She had a unique ability to make everyone feel valued and supported, traits that left an indelible mark on those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Outside of her professional life, Marcia found solace and joy in gardening. She took great pleasure in tending to her plants, spending many hours cultivating beauty in her surroundings. Additionally, her passion for teaching extended beyond the classroom; she enjoyed instilling a love of learning in her grandchildren, whom she fondly referred to as her proudest accomplishment. Beyond her professional life, Marcia was deeply devoted to her family and found immense pride in her role as a Nana to her grandchildren
Marcia is survived by her sister, Bonnie Mills Lynch; her son, Craig, and his wife, Brittany; her granddaughters, Emma and Brooklyn; her grandsons, Reese and Wyatt; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, including Elizabeth Lynch, Karen (Mark) Rose, Cindy Wolfe, Andrea (Beau) Salyers, Marisa (Rob) Sanders, Lexington Sanders, Paxton Sanders, Christopher (Jessica) Lynch, Timothy (Mary) Lynch, John (Claudia) Wolfe, and Christopher Wolfe. She is also remembered by many other extended family members and friends whose lives she touched with her kindness and generosity.
Marcia was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Mills; father, Delbert Mills; stepmother, Betty, and her brother, Bud Mills. Her legacy will continue to live on through the countless lives she enriched during her time on Earth. Her warmth and dedication to her family and profession will always be cherished and remembered by those who loved her most.
A Celebration of Marcia's Life will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2025 at Newcomer Kettering, 3940 Kettering Blvd.
