Marcia Ann Grove

Grove, Marcia Ann, 72, of Harrison Twp., passed away Thursday, September 24, 2015.
She was a member of Salvation Army in Dayton for 22 years and was very involved in the shelter program as a cook, and previously was the head manager of the shelter at 5th and Wilkinson. Along with her husband Chuck, she was the leader of the youth group "The Torch Bearers" in Franklin, PA. and Sunday School teachers for the teenagers in Dayton.
Some of her most precious memories were (Coming Home) to her sister Mary's farm; the walks in the woods, hayrides, and Sunday dinner with family and friends. For 20 years Marcia and Chuck traveled to Franklin, PA from Pittsburgh,PA almost every weekend and most holidays. They knew it was a home of love and were always welcome and always referred to it as "Coming Home".
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry J. and Sophia Mary (Eckel) Whitman Sr, brother, Harry J."Abe" Whitman Jr and wife Bernice (Savajo), sister-in-law Mrs. John (Geraldine) Shuffstall, brother, Kenneth Whitman, and brother Floyd "Ed" Whitman.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Charles Frank Grove "Chuck"; daughter, Lisa Davis; son, Calvin Grove; grandson, Joshua Omiatek ; 2 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Slocum; brother, John Whitman; and her many friends at the Salvation Army.
If desired donations may be made to the Salvation Army in Marcia's memory. Arrangements entrusted to Newcomer Funeral Home, North Chapel.
