M. Joy Mantia, age 87 of Dayton, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2025. She was born December 29, 1937 in Crossville, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Edgar and Lois Garret. She graduated from Wilbur Wright High School. She had a career working for Miami Valley Hospital in the Neonatology billing department. She was a devoted member of New Hope Church and was active in their bible study group. Joy had a creative flair for decorating and adored decorating her home for Christmas, Easter, and Halloween. Joy loved to shop, especially around Christmastime. She enjoyed her cats, especially Betty Jo. Joy cherished time spent with her family and was a proud “Granny” and Great-Grandma. She followed politics and was a staunch Democrat. While Joy was a feisty lady, she touched a lot of people's lives and will be dearly missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Joy is survived by her Husband, Terry Gruver; Daughters, Mary (Phil) Henry, and Teresa (Gene) Vadnais; Sons, Robert (Monica) Mantia, and Nicholas (Lisa) Mantia; Granddaughters, Meredith (Matthew) McFarland, Molly Henry, Emily Vadnais, Candace (Paul) Kurtz, Brittany (Ethan) Monk, Morgan (John) Trimboli, Leah Williams, and Lydia Vadnais; Grandsons, Robert Vadnais, Paul Henry, Jacob Vadnais, Nicholas (Jill) Mantia, and Russell Mantia; Great-grandchildren, Jack McFarland, Zora McFarland, Ophelia Kurtz, Olive Kurtz, Boden Monk, Vincent Monk, Marshall Williams, Cordelia Williams, and Dominico Trimboli; And by numerous other family and friends.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 12, at 2:00PM at Hillspring Skilled Nursing in their Chapel, 325 E Central Ave, Springboro, OH 45066.
