Known to most of us as 'Mam', Lyla passed away in her sleep on May 8,2013, in Dayton, Ohio. She was born an only child in Fresno, California on May 16, 1944, to proud parents Lt. Col. Harold F. & Jeanne M. Henderson. As an Air Force brat, she travelled much in her formative years, seeing domestic and foreign lands and gaining a spirit of cultural awareness and diversity.
In 1963, she married Thomas C. Kinne. They had three children, who survive her passing: Daughters Maria Louise (Kinne ) Barrett (Todd Shell), & Margaret Lynn (Kinne) Doolin, (William II), and son, Thomas Charles Kinne, Jr. (Susan), all of whom reside in the Dayton area. Survivors also include grandchildren Timothy J. II and Zachary Aaron Payton, Tiffany (Payton) Collins (Aaron), Jonathan Kinne (Leah), William III, Charles, and Kristen Doolin, Paul and William Young, and Alexander Kinne, and great grandchildren, Taylor Russell and Brianna Payton (Zachary), and Kelsey Payton (Timothy II), and former son-in-law and friend, Timothy J Payton. She was also married a second time to James Stahl. There were no children as issue of this marriage. She was a loving and giving person and her passing will be felt by all who knew her.
For many years, she was the High Priestess of the Temple of the Lord and the Lady, providing spiritual counsel and inspiring many to reach for a connection with the Divine. She was also a devoted member of Elvin H.O.M.E., Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to re-greening the Earth and raising an awareness of spirituality and global connectivity. She has asked that her remains be scattered at their nature sanctuary, located in Southern Indiana. This ceremony will be by invitation only.
Locally, a celebration of her life will be held on Friday, June 21, 2013 from 2-6p.m. @ the Twin Oaks Shelter, Hills & Dales Park, Kettering, OH.
