VANWINKLE, Luther age 77 a life long resident of Dayton, passed away Monday, October 24, 2005 at Englewood Manor. He was preceded in death by his parents McKinley and Bertha VanWinkle, his brothers Grover, Hank, Jack and Johnny and his sister Lee. He is survived by Pretty Peggy, his loving wife of 36 years, his children Rip "Booger" VanWinkle, his one arm nurse Pamella and husband Charles Stone, Michael and wife Karen McBride, Jim and David "The Bomber" Davis; 12 grandchildren, among them being his Little Puppy Jamie, Brent "Rambo" and Ryan "Little Feller"; 4 great grandchildren; siblings Oramay, special brother David "Bro" and wife Alberta, Betty and husband Claude, Emma and husband Al; best friend and baseball buddy Les Caugey; and a host of other relatives and friends. Luther was a 1946 graduate of Trotwood High School, attended Carousel Beauty College and was the 1946-47 Golden Gloves Champion. He served our country in the US Army, was an employee of Frigidaire/GM for 21 years and retired from I.M.L. Freight Lines after many years of service. Luther enjoyed Big Time Wrestling and was a devoted UD Flyers and Cincinnati Reds Fan. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Thursday, October 27, 2005 at Newcomer Funeral Home 4104 Needmore Road. Family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until time of service.
