Luke G. Osterfeld, age 92 of Dayton, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2013. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Henrietta (Harting) Osterfeld; sister, Margie Bader; brothers, Alfred (Bud), Joe, and Jim Ostefeld. Luke is also preceded in death by his wife, Sharon in 2004.
He is survived by his sister, Carlene Himes; sons, Luke (Judy) Hartley, Mike (Ellie) Osterfeld, Mark "Spike" (Kathy) Osterfeld; daughter, Karon (Kevin) Knight; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Luke served proudly during WWII in the U.S. Navy, being the first to enlist
from the Dayton area following Pearl Harbor. He was the past Commander of American Legion Post 598 in Kettering. The family would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to the staff of Home Instead Senior Care, Crossroads Rehab and Nursing in Vandalia, and Destiny Hospice, for their care of Luke.
