Hoelscher, Louis Henry, age 78, passed away suddenly on Monday, January 14, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Leona; sister, Rosemary (Bob) Weng; brothers, John and Donald (Janice); in-laws, Deanie Schmalstig, Paul (Rose) Schmalstig, and Katie (Wilm) Hinders. He is survived by his best friend Mary of 73 years and wife of 58; children, John (Vivian), Joan (Greg) Johnston, Joe (Terry), JoDee (Pat) Davis, Joy (Eric) Loomis, James (Ann); grandchildren, John Jr. (Nicole), Bo, Kristin (Curtis), Jane (Levi), Stephanie, Brittney (Andy), Dustin, Alan, Jordan, Alex, Ian, and Shannon; great-grandchildren, Christian, Dylan, Jack, Joey, Jayson, Alexis, Chris, Katie, Evan, and Parker; in-laws, Pat Hoelscher, Charles, Eddie (Mary), Tommy (Marilyn), Jerry (JoDee), Virginia, and Carol (Carl). Louis retired after 35 years from Burt's and Baker's Shoe Stores, was a veteran of the Korean War who traveled to the South Pole with The Admiral Byrd Expedition, a lifetime member of the Milton Athletic Club, an avid bowler and bowling secretary for 20 plus years, loyal fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes, Dayton Flyers, Dayton Dragons, Cincinnati Bengals and Reds, he loved NASCAR and watching his son and grandson race at Kil Kare Speedway. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 18, 2013 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home-Beavercreek Chapel, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Helen's Catholic Church where Louis was a faithful member on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 10:00 AM. Father David Brinkmoeller officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association.
