Humphrey, LouAnn, age 69, of Miami Twp., went to be with the Lord on August 23, 2017.
She was born in Dayton, Ohio on January 7, 1948 to Anna Margaret (Naylor) Shell. She spent her youth growing up on Mengle Drive in Kettering . As an adult she was hired as a key punch operator at Dayton Progress where she and the love of her life, Russell Edward Humphrey of Miamisburg met. It was love at first sight. They were married for 41 years before his passing in 2008. She looked forward to a time when they would meet again and he could give her a ride in his Chevy together in heaven forever.
LouAnn was known as a fighter and spent much of her time fighting alongside Russell for the rights of Vietnam Veterans as they took on those who opposed them in their return to the United States. As a result of their work together, Vietnam Veterans received reparations for problems related to exposure to Agent Orange.
She is survived by many loving family members. Her son Russell of Miamisburg, son Corey and wife Amanda of Mentor, Ohio and their children Sammy, Caleb, and AnnaMarie. Shane, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri and his daughters, Logan and Julia. Her youngest, Stephanie dedicated herself to care of LouAnn in her last months. Stephanie's children McKayla and James also contributed to LouAnn's care as well as loved her until she passed. She also had a friend, Linda Lawson, who was the type of friend we all can only pray for – family (a 52 year friendship).
A special thanks to Dr Ketan Shah and the nurses at the Greater Dayton Cancer Center as well as the James Cancer Center at The Ohio State University Medical Center. They offered her compassion and kindness in some of her toughest times of her life.
She requested that those who attend her services wear pink in her honor as it was her favorite color.
Visitation will be held from 12:00pm until 1:00pm on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at Newcomer Funeral Home 3940 Kettering Blvd., where funeral service will follow at 1:00pm. LuAnn will be laid to rest with her husband, Russell at Miami Valley Memorial Gardens.
