Loretta J. (Taylor) Allen, age 83, of Huber Heights, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 15, 2022. She was born August 19, 1938 to the late James Emmitt and Helen Louise (Enyart) Taylor of Catlettsburg, KY. In addition to her parents, Loretta was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward (Eddie) Allen and her brother, Kenneth Lee Taylor.
Loretta and Eddie were high school sweethearts. Eddie served in the United States Navy for four years. After Eddie's discharge they moved to Hampton, Virginia. Eddie worked for Newport Shipbuilding and Loretta worked for Coats and Clark.
In 1967 they adopted their daughter, Lisa Michelle Allen. In 1970 they completed their family by giving birth to their son, James David (Dave) Allen.
Loretta and Eddie moved to Huber Heights, Ohio around 1970. Eddie worked at Platt Manufacturing before ultimately changing his career to HVAC. Eddie started and owned Allen Refrigeration and Equipment. Loretta lived her greatest wish of being a stay at home Mother to Lisa and Dave.
Loretta was a devout Christian and a member of Huber Heights Baptist Temple. When her children were teenagers, she worked as a school monitor at Huber Heights Christian Academy.
Loretta loved spending time with her family and friends. She had numerous hobbies including ballroom dancing, and was a member of Vandalia Country Steppers. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, and working in her yard. She faithfully attended classics Bible Study group at First Light Vandalia Church. She volunteered by crocheting baby blankets and hats for newborns of new Moms in local hospitals.
Loretta was a strong prayer warrior, studied her Bible and was an example of a great Christian woman to all who knew her.
She will be greatly missed by her brother Jack (Jane Ann) Taylor of Catlettsburg, KY; sister-in-law, Ada Taylor of Catlettsburg, KY; her daughter, Lisa Michelle Allen of Miamisburg, OH; granddaughter, Christina Bayley of Huber Heights, OH; son, James David "Dave" (Jan) Allen of Tipp City, OH; granddaughter, Taylor (Stephen) Ball of Shawnee, OK; grandson, James Dalton (Kaitlyn) Allen of Orange City, FL; step-grandchildren: Jacob and Logan Sager; great-granddaughter Aurora Allen who is due in September; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on July 9, 2022 from 12:00pm to 2:00pm at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave Dayton, Ohio 45420.
A private graveside service will be held for immediate family only at another time; officiated by Pastor Zimmerman of Huber Heights Baptist Temple.
