Lora "Ann" Cook, of Kettering, passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Trinity Community of Beavercreek.
She was born June 19, 1939 in Wheeling, WV to the late Robert and Mary (Haley) Harris.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 sons, James "Jay" in 1980 and Steven "Steve" in 2017; her husband of 60 years, Daniel R. "Dan" Cook (2018) and her brother, Phil Harris (1996).
Ann is survived by her son, Jeff (Jenny Barnhill) Cook of Centerville; two grandsons, Jason (Amanda) Cook and Jeremy (Kate Smith) Cook both of North Carolina; great-granddaughter, Frances "Frankie" Pearl Cook; sister, Bobby (Art) Brandt; sister-in-law, Mary Lou (Frank) Palazzo; many nieces, nephews and cousins; special friends, Dick and Barb Rentz, Dave and Sue Freeze and Chris Long as well as her many sisters of Epsilon Lambda.
Ann was a member of Epsilon Lambda Sorority for almost 60 years and had dedicated much of her time supporting their philanthropic activities. Ann retired after 26 years as a secretary for the Kettering School District. Ann lived life to the fullest; enjoying golf, vacationing, "games of chance", collecting recipes and spending time with her family. She will always be remembered for her compassion, generosity and as a "quintessential matriarch" for raising 3 boys plus Dan!
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 6, 2018 from 10:00 am until the time of funeral service at 12:00 pm at Newcomer, South Chapel 3940 Kettering Blvd. Burial will follow at Miami Valley Memory Gardens.
