Lois Catherine Severt, age 67 of Kettering, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at Kettering Medical Center. She was born April 10, 1951 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Herbert and Margaret (Poeppelman) Severt.
In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert C. Severt and Douglas J. Severt.
She is survived by her siblings, Anthony (Claudia) Severt, Carol (Dennis) White, Barbara Bell and Timothy Severt; sister-in-law, Juli Severt as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.
Lois was a 1969 graduate of Stebbins High School where she developed her life-time love of learning. She continued her education at Wright State University where she received her Bachelor's of Science in Education and completed her Master's Degree in Library Science at the University of Michigan. Lois was privileged to have spent the majority of her career as a catalog librarian for the University of Louisville, retiring in 2010 after almost 25 years of service. She was a member of the American Library Association and volunteered her time reading books that were recorded for the visually impaired. Lois dedicated her life to reading, literature and knowledge. Lois had a passion for researching genealogy and was instrumental in gathering much detail about her family's heritage.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 am Monday, April 8, 2019 at Calvary Cemetery Chapel, Dayton followed by services at 11:00 am and procession to gravesite.
