Lois Helton, a beloved retired Kettering Librarian, and employee of Advanced Background Check, passed away on June 1, 2024. She was born on May 12, 1963, in Dayton, Ohio to Winfred and Nancy Helton.
Lois' warm and welcoming personality was evident to all who knew her. Her infectious smile never faded, and she always approached life with grace and positivity. She had a passion for food and was known as a true foodie. Politics sparked her interest, and she was never afraid to share her opinions on the subject.
Throughout her life, Lois touched the hearts of many. Her career as a librarian allowed her to connect with numerous individuals, leaving a lasting impact on her colleagues and the community she served.
In addition to her parents, Winfred and Nancy Helton, Lois was preceded in death by her sister, Beverly Mays; brother-in-law, Chris Smith; and nephew, Ian Smith. Lois is survived by her sister, Crystal Smith; nephews, Dennis Helton, Kevin Cole, Joshua (Lynn) Kreitzer, and David (Jessica Gibson) Kreitzer; niece, Tara Smith, great-nephew, Lyric Smith and
Carson Quillen; great-niece, Katelyn Kreitzer; and great-great-nephew, Luis Christopher Maldonado. She also leaves behind many wonderful friends and co-workers from her years at the library who will cherish her memory forever.
Lois Helton's presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of kindness and positivity will continue to inspire those whose lives she touched. Rest in peace, Lois.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation in her memory.
