Lloyd S. Grodrian, 89, joyfully entered eternal life September 21, 2007, after a spirited fight with cancer. He will be missed by Ruth, his loving wife of 66 years; his daughter Martha and her son Andrew Brower; his son Alan, Al's wife Laura, their daughters Kirsten Grodrian, Lindsey Grodrian, and Julie Goodrich with her husband Christopher; Lloyd's nieces and friends.
He served in Japan in the 3052nd Ordnance Company, US Army. After graduating from Purdue in electrical engineering, Lloyd, an active member of the Society of Automotive Engineers, worked as a Standards Engineer with GE's jet engine team in Evendale until he retired in 1983.
He faithfully served in numerous leadership roles at First Lutheran Church over 40 years. In 1976, he and Ruth performed colonial dances in costume, with the Kettering Bicentennial Dancers, bringing history to life. While dressed in historically accurate Shaker costumes, they sold their authentic homemade Shaker teas at Shaker Festivals to benefit the Kettering Moraine Museum.
The family extends grateful thanks to the nurses and staff at both Hospice of Dayton and Lincoln Park Manor who blessed Lloyd with their loving care.
A celebration of Lloyd's life will be held on Saturday, September 29 at 10 AM, at Woodland Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel, 118 Woodland Ave, Dayton, OH, 45409, with Pastor Richard Gilbertson officiating. The family will receive visitors at the Chapel one hour before the service. Condolences can be sent by visiting www.NewcomerFamily.com
