Lloyd G. DePew Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, peacefully passed away on March 12, 2025, at the age of 94. Born on March 7, 1931, in Franklin, Ohio.
Lloyd enjoyed a fulfilling career at Chrysler Corporation before retiring, where he earned the respect and camaraderie of his colleagues. He was proud to be a member of AFL-CIO #775, a testament to his dedication and commitment to his work and community.
Though Lloyd had a distinctive and unpredictable personality, those who knew him cherished his one-of-a-kind presence. A master storyteller, he delighted in sharing tales from his childhood and life experiences, captivating listeners with his creative and inventive mind. His love for animals shone through in his care for his beloved dog, Miles, as well as in his nurturing spirit towards all creatures.
In his leisure time, Lloyd found joy in restoring Willy's Jeeps, a hobby that exemplified his hands-on approach to life and deep-seated passion for mechanics and craftsmanship.
Lloyd was privileged to be married to Helen F. DePew for an extraordinary 74 years, a partnership that embodied love and devotion. Alongside Helen, he raised a family that includes children David (Diane) R. DePew II, Lloyd (Kim Bowling) G. DePew Jr., Steven (Sharon) J. DePew, Julie (Kyle) Latham, and Shelley DePew. He took great pride in his role as a grandfather to David R. DePew III, Kristy Lee Williams, Nicholas (Jac) James DePew, Brian (Ashly) C. DePew, Alan R. DePew, Adam (Stephanie) L. DePew, Colin (Manasa Maiya) G. DePew, Katie (Ryan) M. Nollen, Chase C. Henderson (Katie Wind), and Sloan E. Fuselier. In addition, his legacy continues through his great-grandchildren, Carter DePew, Easton DePew, Lane A. DePew, Adalynn Nollen, Delaney Nollen, Grady Nollen, Lucas Fuselier, Marcus Fuselier, and Liam Fuselier.
Lloyd will be deeply missed by his loving family and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He is preceded in death by his wife, Helen F. DePew; grandson, Jason D. DePew; his parents, David and Elizabeth DePew; and his siblings, Margaret Barr, Howard DePew, and Earl DePew. His remarkable journey and the impact he had on those he loved will forever remain in their hearts.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at Evergreen Cemetery, 401 N Miami Ave in West Carrollton.
