Linda Faye Varney, age 82 of Centerville, passed away Sunday, April 7, 2024. She was born May 8, 1941 in Breathitt County, Kentucky the daughter of the late Warren and Bessie Craft.
Linda was Co-Owner of Varney Construction Company. She was former President of the local Red Hat Society. She loved listening to bluegrass, watching WWE wrestling, as well as traveling the world with family and friends. She also enjoyed her hobbies of playing cards, showing horses, painting, crocheting, baking, cooking, boating, reading Amish books, watching UK basketball and Ohio State Football.
She was the definition of a true "Coal Miner's Daughter", with a deep Christian Appalachian heart. Her door was always open to everyone; family meant everything to her. She was always hosting and entertaining.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John Cecil Varney; son-in-law, William "Barry" Sternberger and sisters, Brenda Joyce Boggs and Geraldine Napier.
Linda is survived by her daughter, Pamela "Pam" Sue Sternberger; grandchild, Tracynda "Cyndi" (William "Will") Ruth; siblings, Patricia "Pat" Hull, Phillip "Randy" Craft, Danny Craft and Larry Craft; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky at 420 Main Street, Hazard, KY 41701 in Linda's honor.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 11, 2024 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with a service at 11:00 am at Newcomer Funeral Home (3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, Ohio 45432). Linda will be laid to rest at Byron Cemetery following the service.
