O'Keefe, Linda L., age 64 of Beavercreek passed away peacefully on September 16, 2011 at Hospice of Dayton.
Linda was surrounded by loving members of her family at the time of her passing. Linda was retired from Sinclair Community College after 32 years of dedicated service, and was honored as Professor Emeritus at the Sinclair commencement program on June 11, 2011. Linda coached Sinclair women's tennis for 18 years, her teams won Region XII titles in 17 of those years and she was selected as the regional coach of the year in each of those seasons. Linda also coached Sinclair women's basketball for 25 years, won more than 300 games, led Sinclair to three NJCAA Region XII Championships, and reached the Elite 8 in 2003. Linda is the winningest coach in Sinclair history.
Linda received her B.S. and M.S. in Physical Education from UD in the 1970s and was named to the University of Dayton Tennis Hall of Fame in 1987. In 1996, she was inducted to the NJCAA Women's Tennis Coaches Hall of Fame.
Linda was preceded in death by her brother, Edward R. O'Keefe.
She is survived by her father, Edward P. O'Keefe; mother, Betty J. O'Keefe; sisters Donna Sullivan, Jo Ann Linder, and Suzanne Nordstrom; sister-in-law, Nancy O'Keefe, brothers-in-law Bill Sullivan and Mark Linder; her adored nieces and nephews and their spouses Angie and Wil Salisbury, Becky and Matt Shawver, Bruce an Katie Sullivan, Lianna and Rob McKinney, Adam and Andrianna Linder, Amy and Ty Carrington, Sarah and Brandon Padgett, Ben Nordstrom, Kelly and Aaron Sexton, Taylor Nordstorm and Tom Kreitz, Shannon O'Keefe and Eric O'Keefe; and beloved friends Becky Beekman, Billie Sanders, and Bill Byrd among numerous others.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, September 22, 2011 at 10:30 am at Newcomer Funeral Home – Beavercreek, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd. Interment at Mt. Zion Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 21, 2011 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
