Lewis I. Harrell

Lewis I. Harrell, age 80, of New Carlisle, passed away August 22, 2022. He was born March 31, 1942 in Middlesboro, KY to the late Henry and Sadie Harrell. He was the 2nd youngest of 10 children. In addition to his parents, Lewis was preceded in death by several sisters and a brother.

Lewis is survived by his wife of 39 years, Frances Harrell; 3 daughters: Angela, Cherish and Amanda; 3 grandchildren: Zane, Austin and Emma; brother, Steve (Phyllis); sister, Della; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He served 4 years in the US Army during his youth. He worked as a police officer for Wright Patt after the military. He worked many different types of jobs before he retired. He knew how to fix almost anything. He married his wife Frances in 1983 and they had 39 wonderful years together. He had 3 daughters, Angela, Cherish and Amanda and 3 grandchildren Zane, Austin and Emma. He was a member of Ham radio for many years and better known as "the doc" or N8XVL.

He was a great friend who was always there when someone needed a helping hand. He had a soft heart and tried to help those in need. In his free time, he would be working on home projects or playing on the computer. His favorite sport was football and his favorite teams were the Bengals and Ohio State. You could hear him shouting at the Tv from the next room. He loved nature; his favorite season was spring. He enjoyed watching the trees blossom and flowers grow. He had a tender heart for animals, especially his dogs. He had many dogs over the years but his last faithful companion was his Moe-Moe who ran ahead to heaven to wait for him. He enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing,hunting and taking pictures. He enjoyed watching his kids and grandchildren grow and would be at every birthday smiling and taking pictures. He loved his family more than anything and always put them first. Over the past few years, his body grew tired and God asked him to come home, but his memory will live in our hearts forever.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm on Monday, August 29, 2022 at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road.
