Levadis Augustine Hunt

August 19, 1931 — April 23, 2023

Levadis Augustine Kinsey Hunt (nee Estes), 91, of Dayton, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2023, at The Wellington at Dayton. "Voddie" was born in Winchester, KY and was the daughter of the late Bennie Wilson Estes and Edna Mae (Wilder) Estes.

Voddie was a devoted and loving daughter, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

She was preceded in death by husbands Joseph F. Kinsey and Glenn H. Hunt, brother, Bennie C. Estes, son, Ross L. Kinsey and grandson, Justin J. Tanger.

Voddie attended Roosevelt High School and graduated from Parker Co-op. Following the death of her husband, Joe, she fulfilled her life-long dream of becoming a nurse. She graduated from the LPN Program at the Cincinnati School of Practical Nursing in 1972. She then went on to complete the RN Program at Jewish Hospital, graduating with honors. Voddie started her nursing career at Jewish Hospital and became a Kidney Dialysis Nurse at Miami Valley Hospital where she worked for 17 years.

Voddie and Joe were married for 22 years and raised their three children, Ross, Cheryl and Trish in Dayton and Cincinnati where they shared many happy times together. Voddie was a true homemaker, a gourmet cook, seamstress, crafter, and artist. Voddie was reacquainted with Glenn Hunt whom she had known in high school. They were married for 48 years until his passing just last year. In addition to golf, travel, and spending time at their vacation getaway at Fairfield Glade in Tennessee, they especially enjoyed participating in church activities and singing in the choir together at Marshall Road Church of God and later at Fairhaven Church. Voddie's love of the Lord guided her life and she spent endless hours in Bible Study. She readily shared her faith with others as a Stephen Minister, Titus Woman, a mentor to Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS), and as a member of the Benevolent Committee.

Voddie is survived by her sister Charlotte (Neil) Green, children Cheryl (Tom) Warner, Trish (Jim) Tanger, Gordon (Joan) Hunt, Kim Hunt, Gary (Debbie) Hunt, grandchildren Angie (Allen) Warner, Tiffany (Daniel) Williams, Evan Tanger, Jessica (Matt) Bozzuto, Andrew (Cara) Hunt, Clayton (Kristen) Hunt, Mandy (Broc) Stumpff, Rebekah Dolio, Shannon Guy, Nicole Hunt, Erica (Evan) Chandler, Christopher (Breely) Bush, Tamie Turner, Nicholas Norman, 35 great grandchildren, and numerous other family members and friends.

A celebration of Voddie's life will be held at Newcomer, Centerville Chapel, 820 Miamisburg-Centerville Rd., Dayton, OH 45459, on Thursday, April 27 at 11:00 am. Visitation with the family prior to the service will begin at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Miami Valley Memory Gardens.
