Lester Ray Wright, devoted husband, father, grandfather, age 80, of Riverside, passed away November 18, 2020. He was born November 24, 1939 in Sudith, Kentucky to the late Raleigh and Geneva Beatrice (Highley) Wright. Lester was a Veteran of the US Army, and was retired from the Hewitt Soap Company after 41 years of service.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Janice Wright, and a brother, Charles Wright. Lester is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Carolyn (Dowell) Wright; sons, David (Carolyn) Wright, Daniel (Melissa) Wright; grandchildren, David Wright, Joshua (Natashia) Wright, Joseph Wright, Jacob Wright, Kyle (Tara) Eck, Grace Hutton; sister, Delores (Paul) Copeland; brothers, Harry Wright and Harold "Dean" (Gail) Wright, and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Over the years Lester enjoyed gardening, coaching youth baseball, and watching Cleveland Browns football and Kentucky Wildcats basketball. Often times while Lester was in his garden he listened to the Cincinnati Reds on the radio. He had a beautiful devotion to his wife and family and enjoyed many family vacations together, Florida, Texas and New Orleans being among his favorites.
Lester was known for his very kind and gentle nature. He was a genuine person who saw the best in everyone. He smiled and laughed easily and made those around him do the same. Lester touched many lives, especially those of his family. He will be deeply missed.
Lester's family would like to express their gratitude to Ohio's Hospice of Dayton for their wonderful care and compassion during this difficult time.
Visitation will be held from 10:30am until 11:30am on Monday, November 23, 2020 at Newcomer Kettering Chapel, 3940 Kettering Blvd. A graveside service will follow at 12:00pm at Woodland Cemetery, 118 Woodland Ave. Dayton.
The State of Ohio is under a mandatory mask order and has required that face mask will be worn in all public places.
