Leslie W. Ashcraft, 96, of Xenia, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 12, 2022. He was born on September 21, 1925, in Nelsonville, Ohio to Leslie Sr. and Celia (Hawk) Ashcraft.
He is survived by 2 daughters, Joyce "Joy Marie" Cox and Linda McDufford. He has 12 grandchildren. Chris (Duann) Ashcraft, Matt (Kara) Ashcraft, David (Tawdry) Ashcraft, Justin (Jennifer) Ashcraft, Matt (Stephanie) Rivera, Aimee (Casey) Ferguson, Ryan, deceased,Anne-Marie (Cox), Aaron (Kari) Cox, Jeremy Cox, Shawn (Jennifer) McDufford, Christina McDufford, Michael (Brittany) McDufford. He has 28 great-grandchildren.
Leslie is preceded in death by his loving wife, Vera, whom he took great care of, his son, Paul, his sons-in-law, Edward Cox and John McDufford, and most recently, his grandson, Ryan Cox. His brothers, Cecil and Kenneth also preceded him in death. His big sister, Norine, age 100, is still living and remains close to him. He served in the Army in WWII from 1943-1946, He was very proud of his service to our country.
After serving as a Pastor for several years, he worked for the government and retired from Newark Air Force Station in 1987. He loved playing his steel guitar and singing his favorite hymns. He was a proud grandpa, always bragging about his family. Our dear father was devoted to God, family, and church. He was only passing through this world 96 years, on his way to Heaven.
See you again soon dad, in Heaven. We will sit at the feet of Jesus, our family all together.
A visitation will be held on Friday, March 18, 2022 from 10-11am at the Dayton Avenue Baptist church (1121 Dayton Avenue, Xenia, Ohio 45385). A funeral service will begin at 11am with Pastor John Young officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Memorial Gardens.
