Leroy W. Downs, age 87, of Springboro, Ohio passed away on July 14, 2020 at Randall Residence of Centerville.
Leroy was born on October 4, 1932, in Dayton, Ohio to Merle and Elsie (Skapik) Downs. He was preceded in death by his parents; identical twin brother Joseph E. Downs; sister Colleen Ayers;
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Linda (Mesarvey); daughter, Sherry Downs; sons Mark (Kathy) Wantz and Mike (Lori) Wantz; grandchildren Andrew (Erica) Downs, Lynzie (Collin) Taylor, Weston Wantz and Shawn Wantz; 4 great grandchildren (and one on the way); sister Barbara (Ed) Schlegel; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends who were blessed to know him.
Leroy graduated from Stivers High School in 1950. He proudly served in the U.S. Army as an MP during the Korean War stationed in Japan with his twin brother Joe. Following his military service, he was a skilled Tool Maker at General Motors for many years until his retirement.
He enjoyed golf and fishing. Linda and Leroy always opened their lake home to entertain family and friends with delicious food and beverages. Leroy was a devoted husband to Linda...she was the love of his life.
A Celebration of Leroy's Life will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 pm on Sunday July 26, 2020 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Centerville (820 Miamisburg-Centerville Rd. Centerville, OH 45449). Military honors will be rendered at 2:00 pm.
