Leonard G. "Len" Sacksteder, age 82 of Beavercreek, OH passed away on Sunday, December 23, 2018. He was born May 18, 1936 in New Trenton, Indiana to Frank and Clara (Hill) Sacksteder.
Len co-oped at General Motors in Dayton for five years and went on to work the next 35 years for GM. He worked his way through the ranks as a mechanical engineer in the plant engineering department, retiring as a superintendent from GM. He has a 39 year service record with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, donating his time as an Auxiliary Deputy. Len volunteered with the White Water Valley Railroad in Indiana where he served as a brakeman and helped with track repairs. He was always quick to help family and friends in need. Len loved his family dearly and will be greatly missed by all.
Leonard is survived by his wife Carol (Van Voorhis), who he met at General Motors; a son Joe (Helen) Sacksteder; a daughter, Kathy Sacksteder; four grandchildren, Nicholas Sacksteder, Matthew White, Justin White and Emily Downing; a close friend, Damon Tackett and other numerous family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Anna Margaret Sacksteder; a son, Michael Sacksteder; and a brother David Sacksteder.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Beavercreek Chapel, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, Ohio 45432. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 10:00 am at the funeral home. The body will be entombed at 2:30 pm at Woodland Cemetery Mausoleum, Dayton, OH.
