PERKINS, Leonard "Perk", age 72, of Dayton, also known as the "Candy Man," passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2012. He is preceded in death by his father, Samuel Perkins; sisters, Patty Rose, Helen Overturf, and Wanda Overturf; brothers, Samuel and Ralph Perkins, and first wife, Shirley Perkins.
Leonard is survived by his present wife of 30 years, Sandra Perkins; children, Crystal Fogleman, Tammy Holman, David Perkins, Aaron Perkins, and Michael Hayden; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sisters, Janet Patterson, Fern Toppins, and Ruthie Flowers; brothers, John, Mike, and Darrell Perkins, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Cuban Crisis and was a longtime member of Wesleyan Evangelistic Church. Family will receive friends from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Valley View Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of Dayton.
