ZIMMERMANN, Leonard A. III, Capt. USN
Age 45, of Centerville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 27th at Hospice of Dayton. Len was born on January 29, 1964. He is a graduate of Centerville High School (1982), the U.S. Naval Academy (1986), and the U.S. Naval War College. After leaving active duty, he continued to serve his country as a Naval Reserve officer while employed at Scientific Research Corp. in Washington DC. During his years in the Navy, Len was a well-respected officer who was admired by those with whom he served. Through his Navy assignments, he was able to travel the world and see places and meet people that most of us only dream of experiencing. Len is so dearly missed by his parents, Leonard and Mary (Kraimer) Zimmermann, his 3 sisters, Julie Cochran (Ken Jewell), Laura (Don) Popp, Claire (Pat) McNulty, and by his very special friend Irma. He also leaves behind his nephew, Tim and nieces, Beth, Kelly, Courtney, Olivia, Theresa, and Sylvia to miss their favorite Uncle Len. All of his extended family and many friends also will cherish their memories of Len. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Leonard & Sylvia Zimmermann and Henry & Theresa Kraimer, his Aunt Bernie, and his brother-in-law Shawn.
