Black, Lefther, 83, of Moraine, born May 6, 1923, in Himyar, KY to the late James M. and Effie (Bingham) Black, passed away Tuesday November 14, 2006 at Hospice of Dayton. He retired from Delco Moraine division of General Motors after 30 years, as a jobsetter. His greatest joy in life was serving God and caring for his family. He was instrumental as a layman in starting many churches throughout Greater Dayton. He also served numerous churches as a Music Minister and deacon for over 50 years. Lefther loved to study the Holy Bible and shared his love for the Scripture by teaching and serving in various leadership roles during his Christian walk. Sunday School and church leadership were his passions. He was a great mentor to his children and grandchildren and highly respected by his friends. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, C. Blanche (Campbell) Black; sisters Axie Mills and Annie Sturdivant; brother Andrew Black; and son-in-law James "Jim" R. Baber. Lefther is survived by his children Lena Sharon Baber, of Dayton, Terrell "Terry" Black and wife Sharon Kay, of Clayton, Lora Burns and husband Max, of Sylvania, GA, and Darrell Black, of Miamisburg; grandchildren Scott and Peter (Cindy) Baber, Andrew and Nathan (Rachael) Burns, great grandchildren Lauren, Elizabeth, and Emily Baber; brother James (Louise) Black Jr.; numerous nieces, nephews, other family, friends, and special neighbors for 40 years Mitch and Maxine Daugherty;. Funeral services will be held 10:00AM Saturday, November 18, 2006 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3940 Kettering Blvd. Family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00PM Friday, November 17, 2006 at the funeral home.
