Lee Thompson, age 88, of West Carrollton, Ohio, passed away on April 1, 2023. He was born on January 14, 1935 in Hardy, Kentucky to the late Earl and Bertha Thompson. Lee was preceded in death by his wife Hanami "Kazuko" Thompson; sister Mildred Thompson.
Lee is survived by his daughter Diane (Doug) Hortman; grandchildren Ryan (Mindy) Hortman, Brittany (Dan) Hunter; great grandchildren Peyton, Wyatt, Colton, and Kellen.
Lee proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 20 years, retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant. He served in both the Korean and Vietnam War. Following his retirement he continued to serve as a civilian at Wright Patterson Air Force Base.
Lee was a wonderful father and grandfather, lovingly know by all as "Papaw". Nothing made him happier than spending time with family and cheering on his grandchildren at sporting events. He was without a doubt their proudest fan. Lee was a long time member of Trinity Church of Miamisburg and most recently St James United Methodist Church. Lee was very generous, always willing to help others and supported multiple charities and organizations.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in honor of Lee to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave, Dayton, OH 45420.
Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Lee will be laid to rest at Woodland Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio.
