Lee A. Kockentiet

January 12, 1950 — March 3, 2017

After a three-year battle with cancer, Lee Arlen Kockentiet died on March 3, 2017, in Dayton, OH, at the age of 67. He leaves behind his wife, Andora Kockentiet; his daughters, Lisa and Hannah Kockentiet; and his son, Eric Kockentiet.

Lee was born on January 12, 1950, in Dayton OH, to father Robert Kockentiet and mother Rae Kockentiet, who predeceased him. He grew up in a loving family with one brother Jack (Sherry) Kockentiet. As a young adult, Lee ranked as a Captain on the Beavercreek Fire Department. His role as a Fire Fighter and Paramedic led him to become an Explorer Post advisor. During his time with the fire department, Lee was also, the president of Robert Kockentiet & Assoc., Inc., a public accounting firm. In 1996, Lee transitioned to Ali Industries, Inc., an abrasives manufacturing company. There he worked as the company's CFO, for and with his dear friend, Terry Ali.

Lee married his sweetheart Andora Beck on January 21, 1988. Shortly after they married, they purchased his mother's family home (circa. 1862) in Alpha, OH.

Lee was a loyal employee with a love of the outdoors, bee keeping, fishing, music, reading, smoking the occasional cigar with his buddy Ken Cantrell, drinking full-bodied red wines and sipping on single malt scotch whiskey, preferably 18 yrs.+. When diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2013, he remained dedicated to his work. In his will to fight his illness, he found great reward in serving on the Patient Advisory Board for the Kettering Cancer Center.

Besides his wife, adult children, and brother, Lee is survived by grandchildren, Ethan, Alina, Trent and Liam Kockentiet, Granddaughter Elliana Danchisen, nephew Brett (Ginger) Kockentiet, nieces Kristin Kockentiet-Redman, Kelly (Todd) Smith, Jessica Beck, his mother-in-law and sister-in-law Betty and Barbara Beck, his loving cousins, Robert Thompson, Bill (Vicki) Thompson, Judi (Ron) Odell, Alice (Larry) Rodgers and a whole host of first and second cousins and extended family. No post about Lee would be complete without mentioning his trusty lab Dolly or grandpup Jolene.

Lee requested to be interred at Beaver Cemetery near his loving parents and his Aunt Thelma (Chi-Chi) and Uncle Ralph Tindall. A reception will follow at Ali Industries, Inc., in Fairborn, OH; all are welcome. The family would especially like to thank Theresa Stonerock for coordinating Lee's social (medical) calendar these last few months, Ken and Maryann Cantrell our loving neighbors,Jean (Terry) Ali for her loving care and support, Dr. Dan Whitmer for exceptional care, Dr. Christopher Hoimes of Seidman Cancer Center, Cleveland; and the staff of Hospice of Dayton for their comforting and attentive treatment. Instead of flowers, please consider a donation to KMC Foundation at 3535 Southern Blvd., Kettering Ohio 45429 specifying the Kettering Cancer Center, Ellie's Rainy Day Fund (www.elliesrainydayfund.org) or the charity of your choice.

Pastor Sheila Sloane of Alpha Community Church will be coordinating Lee's memorial service at Beavercreek Nazarene on Fairfield Road. Visitation will be on March 10th, from 12pm-2pm with the memorial service immediately following.
