Lee Roy Fannin, age 89 of Dayton, Ohio passed away Saturday, January 23, 2021. He was born January 30, 1931 in Portsmouth, Ohio, the son of Rufus and Irene Fannin.
Lee Roy was a faithful member of Cornerstone Baptist Temple for 55+ years, formerly known as Dayton Baptist Temple. Lee Roy worked hard all of his life to take care of his family. He enjoyed his work for the Yellow Cab Company for 20 years. He loved his job and thousands of people enjoyed his gentle humorous nature. He would spend hours telling tales of incidents while driving his cab. Dayton Daily news did a feature article on him as he had become a Dayton Icon. He loved to fix broken electronics. He collected all kinds of collectibles and enjoyed visiting all of the pawn shops in Dayton and thrift stores. He loved the thrill of a good deal and bartering. Lee Roy loved his old movies and television sitcoms. He would spent hours laughing and relishing his old stars. He loved to drive and being in the car going places. He was known for always smiling and he loved to laugh. Most of all, he loved to make everyone around him laugh and everyone loved him. He drank coffee for 84 years and thoroughly enjoyed it. He was a wonderful and loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be dearly missed.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Joyce; his parents; and siblings, Janice Fannin, Harold Fannin, Jim Fannin, Helen Keilmar & Mary Woodward.
Lee Roy is survived by his two Sons, Michael (Patty) Fannin & Mark (Laura) Fannin; three Daughters, Joy (Alan) Seaborn, Janice (Daryl) Engle & Julie Carr; 18 grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild; and many other loving family members and friends.
Visitation will be February 1, 2021 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Beavercreek Chapel (3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, Ohio 45432).
