Lawrence K. Schmid, age 71, of Moraine, passed away peacefully at home on December 25, 2020, due to complications from cancer. As he passed he was immediately ushered into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Lawrence, "Larry" was born on October 12, 1949 in Ft. Worth, TX to Karl and Eleanor Schmid. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Gordon Yerke.
Larry graduated from Warren High School, Class of 1967, in Warren, MI. He graduated from Christ For The Nations Institute in Dallas, TX with a B.A. degree in Practical Theology.
Larry loved to travel and had visited Germany, England, Spain, Egypt and Austria to name a few. His third year in the Missions program at Christ For The Nations Institute afforded him the opportunity also to go to Israel numerous times. Larry had a love for Israel and it's people.
When Larry was younger, he worked as a Manager at his uncle and father's restaurants, "The Schmid Haus" and "Villa D'Oro". Then he worked as a Prudential Insurance Agent. Later in life he had a career in Sales/Marketing, setting up and running road shows for Costco and Sam's Club for a variety of products.
But Larry's true heart was to be a part of the work of souls coming into the Kingdom of God. He was an avid, cheerful giver to support that cause.
Larry is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Lora, of 18 and 1/2 years; his nieces and nephews, Heather (Yerke) Holmes and her husband Greg along with their daughters, Brianna and Claire, Michael Yerke and his wife Haven along with their children Julien, Michaela and Karl, Melody (Yerke) Setzler and her husband Donald along with their children Ella and Gordon.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at Newcomer Kettering Chapel, 3940 Kettering Blvd.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Larry's memory to Sonlife Broadcasting Network, PO Box 262550, Baton Rouge, LA 70826.
