Lawrence R. Marra

MARRA, Jr., Lawrence R., age 80, passed away Monday, December 21, 2009. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Rose Marie Marra. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Susie Dee Marra; children, Lawrence Ronald Marra, Geraldine Marra Wallitsch, Steven Marra, Susan Marra; step-children, Tina L. Lyons and H. Dale DeVore; siblings, Jeanne C. Sylvia and Edith Tobertga; grandchildren, Sean and Lauren Wallitsch, Emily Marra Johnson, Benjamin and Olivia Marra, and step-grandchildren, Richard Paul Taylor Lyons, Megan Marie DeVore Lyons, and Daniel J. DeVore. Lawrence served in the United States Air Force from 1952-1956 and was commissioned on December 11, 1953. He served as an intelligence officer in Washington, D.C., and later as a civilian information specialist and special projects officer (SPO) at the Air Technical Air Intelligence Center, WPAFB. He also served as an Administrative Director of Ambulatory Services and Assistant Administrator at the Children's Medical Center from 1970-1974, and as Administrator of the Children and Youth Program (C & Y) Combined General Health District of Montgomery County, until his retirement in 1992. He was a charter member of the Oakwood Rotary Club, past Grand Knight/Trustee of the Knights of Columbus, Maria-Joseph Council 4022, Kettering, OH, and past President of the Cystic Fibrosis Miami Valley Chapter. Visitation will be at 9:30 am, January 16, 2010 at St. Francis of Assisi, 6245 Wilmington Pike, Centerville, OH with the Funeral Liturgy following at 10:30 am.
