Lawrence A. Brooks

Lawrence "Larry" Brooks, age 78, of Xenia, passed away Friday, March 3, 2017 at his residence. He was born January 19, 1939 in Logan, Ohio the son of the late Charles and Ruth Brooks.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Nancy Brooks and son, Richard Brooks.

He served our country and protected our freedom during two tours in the United States Army. Larry was a member of the Beavercreek VFW Post 8312, the Xenia OH H.O.G. Chapter and the Xenia Masonic Temple.

Larry graduated from Kettering Fairmont High School Class of 1957. He retired from Lucent Technology formerly known as Western Electric/AT&T after 35 years of service.

Larry is survived by his sons, Ron K. (Darana Edmondson) Brooks and Dr. Thomas Lee; daughters, Laura L. (Charles) Routzohn and Lisa (Rodney) Brickey; sister, Karen Brooks; sister-in-law, Phyllis Vandeman, niece, Julie (Ron) Woeste, nephew, Steve (Emily) Vandeman; grandchildren, Ashley (Joshua) Saleeby, Paige Murashige, Larisa Brickey, Brittany Brooks, Lauren Brickey, Tiffany Brooks, Jacob Routzohn, Noah Routzohn and Ryan Brooks; great-grandchildren, Emma Grace, Finley Wade and Ryleigh; special friends, Jeannie Weckesser, Dan Mendenhall, Carl Durbin and special pet, Rusty. He is also survived by numerous family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at Newcomer Funeral Home Beavercreek Chapel, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, Ohio 45432. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow at Woodland Cemetery Xenia.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at the VFW Post 8312 Beavercreek, Ohio at 6:00 pm.
