Lavonda "Vondi" Lynn Burton, age 56, born on May 22, 1957, a native of Dayton passed away on April 7, 2014 at Hospice of Dayton. She is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Mary (Phillips) Burton; brother, Steve Burton.
Vondi leaves to cherish her memories a brother, Marc (Nundus) Burton; sister-in-law, Shirley Burton; foster mother, Vivian Walker & family; aunts, Willene Lynch and Elizabeth Phillips; devoted cousins, Marsha (Keith) McGriff, Ricky (Brenda) Dixon, Sheila "Doddie" Petty, Kim Harris and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and a host of special friends from Calumet Workshop, including, Fred Smith, Jessica Peoples, Charlie Johnson and Teressa Bohannon; and Darius Walker.
Lovanda was an active part of her community, being recognized for her years of Volunteer Service to: The Miami Valley Hospital, House of Bread, The Country Store, and the Good Neighbor House. Vondi was a participant in the Montgomery County Board of D.D.S. day program at Calumet located in Dayton.
Vondi loved playing cards, arts & crafts, music, shopping, bowling, cowboy movies and she had a fashion fair about her. She loved dressing up. Vondi received many awards for bowling and placed 1st place in 2013 at the Montgomery County Fair for her entry under "Household Arts" for an Apron she made in the Sewing Room at Calumet. She loved church and attended "Greater Allen" for many years, but for the past 12 years attended Overcomers in Christ Ministries.
Visitation will be held from 9-10 AM Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Rd, Dayton where funeral services will begin at 10 AM Saturday with Pastor Eric Walker officiating.
Vondi will be buried at the Dayton National VA Cemetery with her parents on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at 10AM.
