LaVon S. Anson, age 88 of Tipp City, passed away December 9, 2013. He was born February 19, 1925 in Creston, Nebraska to the late Robert and Eleanor Anson. In addition to his parents, LaVon was preceded in death by two wives: Sarah (Comer) Anson and Betty (Wheelock) Anson; brothers: Robert Charles Anson and Lester Anson; sister, Clara M. Mattley; step-son, Donald M. Anderson; and grandson, Chuck Phipps.
LaVon is survived by his sister, Ruby Shultz; brothers: Everett (Elva) Anson and Albert (June) Anson; step daughter-in-law, Marjorie Anderson and her sons: Gregory (Laura), Perry (Karen) and David (Dee) Anderson; step-son, Tom Anderson, his former wife, Barbara Anderson, and children: Becky (Fred) LaPlant, Julie (Jon) Kubler, Shelly (Sherman) De LaCruz, Scott (Julie) Anderson and Georgie Anderson; step-daughter, Shirley (Kay) Phipps and their children: Jodie (Brent) Wilson, Lisa Phipps and Chris (Mandi) Phipps; many step grandchildren, step great grandchildren and step great great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
LaVon was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, WWII, was a life member and former commander of American Legion Post 586 Tipp City, life member of V.F.W. Post 4615, honorary member of Elm Valley Fishing Club and member of Moose Lodge General Assembly Lodge 3000.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at Maple Hill Cemetery, S. Hyatt Street, Tipp City. Pastor Gary Boggs officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in LaVon's memory to the American Legion Post 586 in Tipp City. Arrangements by Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road.
