Lavender Marie West, age 3.5, of Dayton Ohio, transitioned on May 12, 2021, at her home. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on December 13, 2017, the loving daughter of Sarah Marie West. Biological father, Aaron O'Neal.
She was preceded in death by her "Papa Tom", great grandfather, Thomas West.
Lavender is survived by her mother, Sarah M. West; maternal grandparents Nicole B. West and Paul A. West; great grandparents Freda Stevenson and Debbie Ann West; their animals, Peaches, Hiphop, Omari & Tobechi; and a slew of extended family & friends, so many to love and too many to count.
She lived at Cincinnati Children's Hospital for her first 6 months, then came to Dayton Children's Hospital at 6 months old, where she lived until she was almost 1 year old. Lavender was able to come home for the first time a few weeks before her 1st birthday. She was a beautiful loving daughter. She loved music and everyone who met Lavender loved to be around her. Lavender gave her mama the best 3.5 years of her life.
Lavender was an extremely brave and strong life force. You could feel her presence in the room. Lavender beat every single odd put against her. She was a miracle from conception, and continued to "wow", "amaze" & "puzzle" all of her doctors throughout her life. She was, and is still, such a shining example of God's Greatest Blessing we are all given and that is life in these bodies on this earthly plane. She further taught us how important spirituality really is in accordance to our relationship with God, aka our higher consciousness. Her developmental "diff-ability" showed us that the Spirit, that is "I AM" within us, truly does dwell in the neurological system.
Lavender was a happy little girl and had all types of opinions. She knew everything that she did and didn't like, and remembered everyone's energy. Despite her disabilities, Lavy was very aware & & consciously present, she was funny sometimes, adorable all the times, & certainly had attitude & hella personality. Lavender would know when you walked into the room, or when you left her before she was ready for you to. Lavender was extremely hyper sensitive to all energy around her & that's how she communicated in her world. Lavy was very chill, loved snuggles, massages, warm baths & forehead rubs. She enjoyed bouncing in her bouncer, listening to good music and being in the company of her dog, Peaches. Lavender enjoyed walks outside with her mom & their dogs. She favored doing everything with her mother and anywhere they went together, she knew she was in the best hands. She not only impressed all of her doctors, but all of her family and friends as well. Everyone was astonished by her resilience and beauty. Lavender made her Mama Bear the upmost proud of her! She was and will always be "Divine & One of a Kind". Lavy's smile, presence, cuteness, peacefulness, and love will all be truly missed by everyone whose life she touched.
Lavender's mother, Sarah, extends her heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Cincinnati Children's Hospital TCU & Dayton Children's Hospital TCU Units for training her in how to give the best care to her beloved daughter and for always loving Lavender.
Visitation will be held from 2pm-4pm on Monday, May 24, 2021, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton, where a Celebration of Lavender's Life will begin at 4pm at the funeral home.
