Laurine Creech, 85, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2024. Born on April 22, 1939 in Cullman, Alabama, Laurine was one of 17 Children of Issey and Hubert Whatley. As an adult, she moved to Dayton, OH where she built a beautiful life and remained for the rest of her days.
Laurine married the love of her life, Jasper Creech, and they celebrated 64 wonderful years together filled with many trips to their cabin, lots of golfing, fishing, and other adventures. She was a devoted stepmother to Ron Creech (Laurie) and Linda Miller, whom she lovingly cared for as her own from a young age.
Laurine's family continued to grow, and she found great pride and joy in her six grandchildren: Anita Craighead (Robert), Kimberly Watson (Keith), Ricky Miller (Marcie), Nathan Creech, Natalie Creech, and Olivia Creech (Josh). She was also blessed with eight great-grandchildren: Bobby Craighead, Evie Craighead, Jackson Miller, Kenzie Potts, Marcus Watson, Micah Watson, Isabella Black (Joshua), and Maliea Watson. She was excited to have two great- great grandchildren on the way, extending her cherished family legacy.
Laurine was a woman of many talents and joys. She loved reading, crocheting, crafting, and watching TV- especially cheering on Alabama Football, a passion that kept her connected to her roots. She also treasured gathering with friends weekly for lunch where stories, laughter, and love were shared. Laurine always looked forward to seeing her siblings in Alabama at their bi-annual family reunions, which were a highlight of her life and a testament to the enduring bond she shared with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Issey and Hubert, and her siblings, Larry Douglas Whatley, Mozell Whatley, Hubert Willie Whatley, Bobby Whatley, infant twin girls, and Destal Lee Whatley. Laurine is survived by her devoted husband, Jasper, her stepchildren Ron and Linda, her grandchildren, her great grandchildren, and her siblings: Myrtle Draper (James), Jean Herchenhahn (Jerry), Eveion Whatley, Leo Whatley (Judy), Deliween Morehouse (Mark), Faye Calvert (Jerry), Bill Whatley, Donald Whatley (Nina), and Beatrice Whitlock (Bruce).
Laurine will be laid to rest in Cullman, Alabama, where she will return to the heart of the place she always called home.
Laurine will be remembered as a kind, loving, and creative soul whose life was a testament to the power of family, friendship, and resilience. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew her.
