Laura Hormann, of Dayton, Ohio, found lasting peace on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 with her family by her side. She was born May 1, 1962 to Loren and Mary Lou Walters in Grand Haven, Michigan.
Laurie was absolutely a one of a kind woman: a true style icon, a brilliant educator, an artist, and the most fiercely loving and loyal friend and family member. She lived passionately and poured that passion into her career and her family. She dedicated her life to education-beginning at St. Peter's school where she founded their arts program and continuing on into over twenty years of service as an administrator with Dayton Public Schools. She was an avid crocheter and strong coffee enthusiast. A party girl back in the day, she still loved to dance, especially in the car blaring music with Abbey. She knew how to make life fun.
Her loss is felt deeply by her daughter Abbey Busse, husband James Hormann, mother Mary Lou Walters, siblings Kimberly (Bob) Bair, Paula (Ron) Royse, Michael (Tami) Walters, Amy (Al) Machuca, Jinna Walters, step children Amanda (Cody) Watson, Allison (Damian) Worthington, grandchildren Ava, Ella, Colten, and Cade, nieces, nephews, and friends. She is preceded in death by her father, Loren Walters, her brother, Andrew Walters, her nephew Michael Nyinaku Jr, her grandson Lane William Worthington, and Abbey's father, Alvin Busse.
Visitation will be held from 1:00-4:00 pm on Sunday, March 26, 2023 at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, March 29 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 2300 S. Smithville Road, Dayton. She will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery.
