Laura Mae Crosley

January 19, 1925 — December 25, 2021

Laura Mae Crosley, age 96 of Dayton, OH passed away on Saturday, December 25, 2021 at home surrounded by family. She was born January 19, 1925 in Dayton, Ohio to Burris and Myrtle (Thompson) Green. She married Paul Crosley on August 10, 1944 in Dayton, OH while he was on leave from the US Navy during World War II.

Laura Mae attended nurses training at Miami Valley Hospital after graduating high school. She met Paul during nurses training and they married, and she spent the next twenty years raising her children. During this time she also was active in her church teaching Sunday School, was the nursery director, youth leader and was involved as well in community outreach. When she returned to work she worked at the Montgomery County Recorder's and Treasurer's office and finished her career as a legal secretary. Laura Mae and Paul were involved in various ministries, opening their home to people in need. She had an amazing knack for telling stories and wrote thousands of letters and cards, sending with them sticks of gum, funny jokes or comics, inspirational stories and scriptures inside. She never met a stranger and was the queen of practical jokes, pushing people in swimming pools, starting water fights and many other good natured pranks.

Laura Mae and Paul's faith was the central point of their lives. They had a heart for missions locally and abroad, and raised two sons that became ministers and missionaries. She loved to give of herself even if she did not have alot, taking baked goods and small gifts to shut ins and those in need. Married for nearly 72 years, she was married to the love of her life and best friend.

Laura Mae is survived by her daughter, Connie (Robert) Flagg; sons, David (Tammy) Crosley, Doug (Lisa) Crosley, and Michael (Joy) Crosley; a daughter in law, Kathy Crosley; 15 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren with one expected in April; sister, Joan Von Derau; and numerous other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Paul; her parents; son, Paul Daniel Crosley; and a sister, Lillian Gaiser.
