Larry J Reed of Xenia, OH passed away Friday, January 21st, 2022, at the age of 73.
He is preceded in death by his father Simpson Sr. and his mother Clara (Eversole); siblings, Simpson Jr Reed, Anthony Reed, and Charlotte Baxter; his daughter, Carla Colosimo; grandsons, Ryan Adkins and Eric Reed.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Jeanne Reed; his sister, Reedi Whitacre; children: Rodney (Dawn) DeWitt, Larry Jr (Cheryl) Reed, Gina (Tony) Taylor, Angela (Mark) Caudill; grandchildren: Gary, Amanda, Rodney, Cassie, Josh, Alex, Mathew, Clara, Anthony, Larry James III, Brandon, Brooklyn, Josh, and Cecil. Larry was also blessed later in life to have numerous great-grandchildren.
Larry's ingenuity and extraordinary work ethic was evident by his nearly six-decade career in construction/architecture. He began at the age of 14, going on to be apart of dozens of residential, commercial, and municipal projects through-out Ohio. Later in life he worked with his cousin and colleague, Jimmy Kingsolver.
These attributes reached into his personal life as well, regularly fixing/tinkering/building anything and everything he could get his hands on. He was an avid hunter and fisher, winning multiple bow marksman competitions along side his wife. He also participated in multiple bowling leagues and championships, once scoring a perfect "300" game. He was known by many for his quick wit and steady hand no matter the situation. He always had a sense for people and was a beacon for generosity and compassion. Always learning, he would seek knowledge and gladly pass it on to those willing to ask. To those whose lives he touched, there won't be another like him.
No funeral services will be held. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
