Larry Harold Derr, 80, of Springfield, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Inpatient Hospice at the Dayton VA following over a year of declining health.
Larry, the son of Harold and Helen (Glock) Derr, was born in Kenton on January 10, 1943. They preceded him as did a brother, Jan Michael Derr, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He married Sharon (Lundy) Derr, June 23, 1963, and they shared almost 60 years of marriage. She survives at Springfield. Also surviving are their daughter and son-in-law, Kristin (Derr) and Denver Simms of Springfield, a brother, Gary Derr of Kenton, as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and one cousin.
He was a 1961 graduate of Ridgeway High School in Hardin County after which he served in the United States Air Force for four years. Upon his discharge he worked several different jobs before he and his wife owned and operated Derr's Mobile Home Service in Clark County for 39 years.
He was a charter member of the American Legion Post 787 in Springfield and had held several offices. He was also a member of Voiture Local 384 of 40 and 8 and his wife's Teamster Retirees' Club of Springfield.
An inurnment service under the direction of the American Legion Post and its chaplain will be held at the Fairview Cemetery at Belle Center.
