Larry Joe Deckard, age 75 of Centerville, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at Kettering Medical Center. Larry was born January 26, 1943 in Vincennes, Indiana to the late Glen A. and Ella Belle (Hager) Deckard.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his step-mother, Velva Deckard; daughters, Treva Christy and Elvina "Nina" Deckard; brother, Myron "Butch" (Barbara Jean) Deckard; step-siblings, Sharon Deckard and Dewayne Deckard; aunt and uncle, Mabel and Pete Reynolds and cousin, Dixie Darlene Reynolds and loyal dog Brookie.

Larry is survived by his wife of 26 years, Lou (Richert) Deckard; children, Brian T. (Jacqueline) Deckard, Naomi J. (Douglas) Hilker, Sherry A. (Darrell) Schofield, Stephanie J. McDaniel; grandchildren, Elijah Deckard, Elisha (Greg) Snyder, Larry (Katie) Christy, Carl (Kaitlin) Christy, Christopher Yake, Mary Mahler, Amber (Robert) Childers, Michael (Erica) Lewis, Erin Hall, Joseph Schofield, Shiloh Schofield, Brandon (Jade) McDaniel, Eddie Dale Watson, Gabriel Watson, Danielle Orick and Hunter Orick; great grandchildren, Ariella, Lillian, Ronan, Elias, Mikaila, Norrin, Holden, Brielle, Conner, Mylan, Olivia, Landen, Sophia, Korbin, Adilynn and Everett; a special nephew, Tony Forshee; cousins, Glenna and LeRoy; his beloved dogs, Baby Angel, Tinkerbell and Riggins and numerous friends.

Larry was a graduate of Vincennes Lincoln High School in Vincennes, IN. Following his graduation, Larry was employed as a carpenter during the construction of the Wabash Bridge before relocating to Cincinnati. Larry began a career at NCR as field service technician for 10 years. As an entrepreneur he opened motorcycle shops in Dayton, Suzuki of LA and Honda of Dayton as well as part owner of Limo Magic, a computer software programming company. Additionally Larry helped manage Steve Ricks, a dear friend and recording artist who charted a single on Billboard Hot 100.

Larry was a Mason, serving as Past Master and active member of the Spring Hill Church of Christ, Middletown. He had many hobbies that he enjoyed in his spare time with family including flying, skiing, boating, golf, grilling, reading, music and was a life-long student. He also loved to travel and go on cruises with his second family.

Family will receive guests from 9:00 am -11:00 am Friday, October 5, 2018 at Newcomer Funeral Home, Kettering. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am also on Friday at the funeral home and officiated by Pastor Bob Stacy. Procession to Washington Township Centerville for burial will conclude services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Artemis Center at 310 W Monument Ave, Dayton, OH 45402 in memory of Larry's daughter, Nina Deckard.
